I faced a lot of bad experiences at work, school, and public places I could say due to my background being a black woman and a refugee. It might not be reason sometimes, however, was most of the time and makes me feel frustrated and having a lot of anxiety whenever,  I meet up with supervisors, teachers, and other people in power to present any ideas. I was frustrated with my field instructor (supervisor), This experience was significant because of what I have learned about myself and the field of social work profession. As a social work student, my principal was social work code of ethics, to guide me in solving problems, serving my client by providing all the services that any individuals in need will have access this public assistance. I started my internship training with the director going through all of Discovery House policies, State guidelines protecting patient/client confidentiality 42 CFR for two weeks of my internship. As a social worker working in substance abuse disorders/drug and alcohol clinic using methadone medication to help addicts with withdrawals symptoms, the environment and cases are very critical regarding the safety of the client and others including staff.  Because they can’t allow any people to work this sensitive environment without the transparent background that put patient/client at risk also the clinic. I started my clinical work given ten clients with different cases and background most of the were diversity community. In that month the director was leaving the clinic, and the agency hires new a director and clinical supervisor. Where my frustration and struggle, because I was following where I put myself in patient/client shoes to able to experience this situation by needing services, and how much you can wait to the service. I see what patient/client go through because of some process that will withhold everything you plan. Using company’s policy and the code of ethics analyze and bring to the staff meeting to consult with counselors and medical team. And I have once a week one-hour supervision. My first meeting with the new clinic supervisor was unpleasant, my whole plan stops because not doing what I need to do. I am not able to finish my hours on time. Discover House have policy and procedures and also is transitioning from company to another company with new policies and directors. With that first month, I captured the codes of ethics well by strengthening relationships with my clients and staff that I worked with.According to Social Work values is “a persistent effort to promote, restore, maintain, and enhance the wellbeing of individuals, families, social groups, organizations, and communities.” I showed my supervisor the integrity responsibly and promote ethical practices on the part of the organizations with which they are an affiliate even though she had never taken me seriously or value my ideas or the work that I do. However, I intend to keep my the standard of social work code of ethics” “a knowledge base of their clients’ cultures and be able to demonstrate competence in the provision of services that are sensitive to clients’ cultures and differences among people and cultural groups.”
